Sydney Collins

Sydney grew up in Rhode Island as a winter sport athlete, settling into Women’s Ice Hockey for her
collegiate career at the University of Rhode Island captaining the team and earning Division 1 First
Team All-American and All-League awards. She later coached at the youth level for two seasons of
U14-U16 and at the high school level for two seasons as the Assistant Coach and two seasons as the
Head Coach of the South County Storm. She also returned to the University to lead the team in off-ice
Strength & Conditioning while assisting with on-ice coaching.

After Graduation, Sydney began CrossFit while seeking a competitive outlet to replace collegiate ice
hockey. Within six months, she competed in her first Olympic Weightlifting meet and proceeded to
compete on an annual basis under Providence Barbell Club. Throughout her four years involved in
CrossFit, she earned her Level 1 Certificate and began coaching classes. In 2020, she transitioned full-
time to training Olympic Weightlifting and has completed the Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching
Certifications. Sydney has competed at the Senior National Level at both the USA Weightlifting
National Championships and at the American Open Finals competitions. She also currently holds three
records in the New England WSO.
